We are back with our annual opportunity for kids and teens to experience the fun and excitement of the theatrical arts. Whether your child is an explorer, beginner, or experienced performer, there are opportunities for everyone onstage and off stage. The Summer Stage! community creates a musical production while learning skills like critical thinking, collaboration, empathy, mindfulness, and more.
Two 3-week long camps for kids 6-12 years old. Kids can enroll in one or both.
A special 3 week Playhouse Teens camp for youth age 13-17.
All programs run Monday -Thursday 9-3pm and Friday 9-noon. Registration is limited!

Pirates! Aliens! Space Travel! Space Pirates tells the story of Gab, a kid who gets picked on during a school trip to the museum. Everything quickly changes when an alien spaceship accidentally beams Gab and classmates up to outer space. Things go from bad to worse when the alien spaceship is suddenly attacked by SPACE PIRATES! It is only after this whirlwind space adventure that Gab becomes comfortable in their own skin, and their classmates appreciate them for who they are.
We Are Monsters is a hilarious new musical that follows human kids into a monster cabaret filled with quirky monster characters. The adventurous humans uncover vegetarian vampires and rock n’ roll werewolves, gradually realizing there may be more to these monsters than meets the eye! Most importantly these monsters and kids discover the importance of friendship and celebrating in the attributes that make each of us different and unique.

Teens create stories inspired by their own lived experiences using songs and scenes from our Season 2021-22 shows. Themes of inclusion, relationship, friendship, social media, acceptance, and being a better world maker are explored in a collaborative space that is safe, and creative. Teens will engage the creation of staging the show including costume, prop, set and lighting design and production.
This unique show will be the centerpiece entertainment for the Playhouse Merced Gala on August 14th. An additional show for select friends and family will be presented on August 15th.
